Network will exclusively televise 34 MW games this season

DENVER – ROOT SPORTS™ will televise 34 live MW men’s basketball games during the 2013-14 campaign. This will mark ROOT SPORTS’ inaugural basketball season as the official regional television partner of the Mountain West.

The network’s lineup will consist of several regional rivalries, including Air Force vs. Colorado State (January 18) and Wyoming vs. Colorado State (February 22 and March 8). All matchups will be produced in high definition and will be available exclusively on ROOT SPORTS

Coverage begins on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. with the University of New Mexico, last season’s MW regular season and tournament champions, hosting Jamestown in an exhibition game. The regular season commences on the network on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 8 p.m., when the Lobos host Alabama A&M live from The Pit.

The Mountain West sent five men’s basketball teams to the NCAA Tournament in 2013, and welcomes two new members this season in San José State and Utah State. In addition to those schools, men’s basketball competition within the league includes Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Nevada, New Mexico, San Diego State, UNLV and Wyoming.

“We are excited to be the exclusive regional home of high-caliber Mountain West basketball,” said ROOT SPORTS General Manager David Woodman. “We look forward to showcasing some of the best college basketball teams in the country all season long.”

“The ROOT SPORTS telecasts of Mountain West men’s basketball are an integral piece of the overall exposure for our outstanding collegiate basketball programs,” said MW Commissioner Craig Thompson. “This sport continues to grow on the national level in the MW and postseason opportunities could be enhanced by these television opportunities.”

These Mountain West games are part of ROOT SPORTS’ comprehensive lineup of college basketball this season, featuring major conference matchups from coast to coast, including the Atlantic Coast Conference, Big 12 Conference, Big East Conference, West Coast Conference and Summit League.
